Tony Villamil, WEG Founder and Principal, was interviewed by Marcia Heroux Pounds for a June 20th article in Sun-Sentinel on Florida’s May Employment report. Florida’s unemployment rate rise in May to 6.3 percent, slightly up from April rate of 6.2 percent, and down 1.2 percentage points a year ago. However its rate has been equal or below the national rate for 13 consecutive months and its economic recovery remains on trac, as reported by the Department of Economic Opportunity. May’s 2.9 percent rise in statewide job growth is “pretty solid,” said Tony Villamil. He also added that Florida’s higher labor force numbers over the month and year show more people have re-entered the job market to look for work. “That’s a good sign for recovery,” Villamil said.
