On September 22nd, The Tallahassee Democrat released an official opinion piece on a 2012 survey and analysis of trends and preferences of retirees searching for the ideal place to retire, which found that Tallahassee ranked #1 in the country. The preferences listed in the survey included the best combination of climate, cost of living, health care and other top priorities. The survey and report were conducted by The Washington Economics Group (WEG) and titled “Best Choice for Retiring Boomers: Head South – An Analysis of Selected U.S. Cities.” Among the scientific comparisons of 20 prospective ideal “Boomer” retirement communities, Tallahassee was top ranked in the country.
