Tony Villamil Shares Comments on the Staples-Office Depot Merger in the Sun-Sentinel

In an article written by Marcia Pounds in the Sun Sentinel, WEG Founder and Principal, Tony Villamil shared his views on the Staples-Office Depot merger, in particular relating to the Cuban Electric Co. asset that essentially ceased to exist after the 1960 Cuban revolution. Tony said that he doesn’t see any property claims being addressed under the Castro regime or any time soon. Before claims are addressed, “there is going to have to be a change [in government].” He said in such situations, confiscated assets are often sold on the secondary market created by hedge funds, providing some return to claimants.
