WEG CEO Marielena Villamil participated in the 2012 Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Goals Conference, held on May 31st and June 1st. At its annual goal building sessions, Chamber members discussed issues such as working to implement the new One Community One Goal initiative, as well as the debate over bringing mega casinos to Miami-Dade and the funding of education at all levels. Among others, Marielena attended the New World Center Committee workshop. The New World Committee focuses on the enhancement of and economic development future of Downtown Miami. As reported in the June 6th Miami Today, Mrs. Villamil publicly suggested changing the name of the committee to include the world ‘Downtown’ rather than ‘New World’ to more clearly align its mission.
