WEG Principal Quoted in Miami Today on the Chamber Political Role

At the 2012 Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Goals Conference, held on May 31st and June 1st , the issue of the Chamber creating a Political Action Committee (PAC) was a major topic of discussion. Two Chamber members and advisors spoke at the Goals Conference on the positive and negative drawbacks from such a move. As the Chamber possesses 5,000 professionally and demographically diverse members, advisors suggested that the Chamber be cautious in publicly supporting certain candidates and issues with financial contributions. WEG Founder and Principal Advisor, Tony Villamil contributed to the conversation by acknowledging that members should be concerned with the “unintended consequences,” of such a move and added that, “it’s important to understand what the pitfalls and benefits are.
