In an article by Tallahassee Democrat correspondent, Bill Coterell, published on June 2, 2018 highlights the Economic Impact Study commissioned by the Alliance for Safety and Justice to The Washington Economics Group, Inc. (WEG) based in Coral Gables. According to the article, WEG Study has provided some tangible reasons for restoring rights, a financial impact of $365 million was estimated from passing the constitutional amendment. “In essence, eligible felons, as per Amendment 4, with restored civil rights have a greater ability to become full members of Florida’s society an economy, leading to a reduced rate of recidivism,” said the WEG report.
