WEG Founder and Principal Interviewed by Florida Public Radio

A recent report on the success of Enterprise Florida was the focus of a February 8th segment of The Capital Report on Florida Public Radio. Tom Flanigan led the interview and asked Tony Villamil his views on the progress of the State’s official economic development agency since it began in 1996.  Villamil, a founding member of the organization and current member of its Board of Directors said that the organization was founded to assist in the “state’s quest for new business and jobs while also giving them opportunities to benefit,” adding that Enterprise Florida is a major “stakeholder in the economic development process…by bringing the best of the private sector with the public sector together.” Tony Villamil today is the founder and principal of The Washington Economics Group and the Dean of the School of Business at St. Thomas University. He is a past Chairman of the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors of Florida, and was also the Director of the Governor’s Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development of the State of Florida in the Office of Governor Jeb Bush.
