On February 11, Governor Scott visited the University of Florida (UF) to outline his budget, which recommends a $1.1 billing investment for state colleges and $3.8 billion for Florida’s universities. In his appearance at UF, Governor Scott said that “targeted investments in higher education will help ensure Florida has a university that ranks on the top 10 in the United States.” On the Governor’s budget announcement, TJ Villamil, UF Student Body President and WEG Officer stated that “Governor Scott’s budget embodies a commitment to see any state dollars to the University of Florida as an investment, not an expense. This commitment to keeping our State University System affordable ensures accessibility to a great university education.”
