Tony Villamil, WEG Founder and Principal and Dean of School of Business at St. Thomas University, was interviewed by Marcia Heroux Pounds for an October 16th article in the Sun-Sentinel on Florida’s growth challenges. According to a recent study by the Florida Chamber Foundation, Florida’s economy grew by more than $30 billion from 2011 and 2012, however “challenges remain including attracting more high-wage jobs and more venture capital.” Villamil suggests that “in spite of all our efforts for diversity (of jobs), our competitive edge still hold – hospitality” which pays less than the state’s average annual wage.
