WEG Study for New Miami Beach Bowl Game Highlighted in Press Conference

A press conference was held on October 25th announcing the formation of the “Miami Beach Bowl Game,” which will be played at Marlins Park in December 2014.  The Bowl Game will feature a team from the American Athletic Conference, AAC (formerly the Big East), Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference or the Sun Belt Conference. The AAC commissioned an independent study by The Washington Economics Group, which found that the Bowl Game and its associated activities could have a $34 million economic impact on Miami-Dade County. Nick Carparelli, senior associate commissioner for football with the AAC said that “bowl games are really about the whole week of events. It’s an event that’s going to benefit all of Miami-Dade County. The national branding of the event that would bring the most attention to the area would be the Miami Beach Bowl because I think people who are not from this area [and] think about coming here for vacation think about Miami Beach.” Click to watch the video of the press conference
