As reported in the March 18th Florida Department of Economic Opportunity report, the State’s unemployment rate in January was lower than the national unemployment rate for the first time in five years. In a March 19th article by Emily Roach in the Palm Beach Post, Tony Villamil, WEG Founder and Principal Advisor and Dean of the St. Thomas University School of Business, said that “recovery has been sluggish,” adding that “usually at this point in a recovery, growth is 2%-2 1/2%, but the state is at 1.8%.” Villamil also said that “nationally and globally, the business environment has been tough.”
